Short-Term Classes You may be offered a job based on a short-term commitment. Perhaps after reading this book, you’ll offer your services for a set number of classes to introduce yourself and your skills to a community. You might consider using the 16 sample session plans that have been assembled in appendix A. The plans are 16 sessions meant to be spread out over 4 to 6 months or even longer for larger groups; and can be taught in more than one way. You could pace your participants through the many activities based on your observations and assessments.

Other stations could be strength activities and others could be simple balance activities. Always place yourself at the most difficult balance station so that you can hold their hands, give them encouragement and verbal cues, and monitor for participant safety. A large-group instructor may find that circuit classes can work well if the activities are kept simple and safe. At the very least, circuits are a fun idea that can add variety to your classes.
